Honoring the Spirit of Indigenous and Traditional Midwifery

Dedicated to uplifting Indigenous Midwives and their sacred knowledge, we empower families and communities through traditional birth practices, advocacy, and education, honoring the healers who have cared for our ancestors for generations, today, and in the future.

Gatherings & Community Support

With years of experience in event planning and facilitation, we bring people together for healing, learning, and relationship-building. From community gatherings and retreats to workshops and elder support, we create spaces where wisdom and connection thrive.

Advocacy & Impact

Driven by a commitment to health equity and justice, we work in policy development, coalition building, and provide essential resources to ensure Indigenous voices are respected and empowered within healthcare systems and beyond.

Guidance & Sacred Transitions

Offering support through life’s sacred moments, we provide trauma-informed education, death companioning, somatic coaching, and resources for birth and beyond. Through midwifery and indigenous practices, we honor the dignity of each individual and the wisdom of our ancestors.

Events & Lectures

Upcoming Events

Indigenous Birth hosts gatherings that foster healing, learning, and connection across communities.

Indigenous Midwives
Conference 2025

Join us in celebrating the vital role of Indigenous midwives at our upcoming Indigenous Midwives Conference in May 2025. This event brings together midwives, healers, and advocates for workshops, discussions, and ceremonies, all aimed at strengthening community health, traditional practices, and collective resilience.

Created as sacred tools for healing, The Midwife’s Tarot and Midwife’s Oracle celebrate midwifery and traditional wisdom. The Tarot deck, painted by an Indigenous Peruvian artist, and the Oracle deck, featuring healers from diverse cultures, offer guidance and support to midwives and those they serve on their journeys.

In collaboration with the Firelight Group, Indigenous Birth is mapping the Arizona-Mexico border region to track access to Indigenous midwives and document the evolving landscape of traditional midwifery in the Americas. This resource aims to re-indigenize midwifery, supporting Indigenous and tribal communities in reclaiming their birth practices.

Currently in development, our Resource Library will offer midwives access to affiliated organizations, articles, videos, and other media. Designed as a networking hub, this resource will support midwives in finding events, tools, and community connections essential to their practice.
