VALUES:
Ancestral Wisdom: We honor the teachings of our ancestors, carrying forward knowledge that has sustained our peoples for generations.
Community Power: We believe health and healing in Indigenous communities belong in the hands of the people of those communities or nations, and we work to build local leadership and collective strength.
Cultural Survival: We protect Indigenous practices from erasure and ensure they are reclaimed and embodied, not just a memory or story.
Embodied Healing: We recognize the body as a site of memory, resilience, and liberation, and integrate somatic practices into our work.
Justice in Health: We confront and transform systems that deny care, dignity, or cultural respect.
Ceremony as Medicine: We create spaces for prayer, ritual, and celebration, knowing that spirit is essential to health.
Radical Care: We treat care as an act of resistance and a pathway to liberation.
RECLAIMING access to healthcare for our communities and Honoring the Spirit and strength of Indigenous Midwifery
MISSION:
Indigenous Birth is a community-rooted organization advancing health, justice, and cultural survival through the leadership of Indigenous midwives, healers, and community health workers. We preserve ancestral knowledge while confronting the systems that erase it, creating spaces where birth, health, and ceremony are inseparable. Through education, advocacy, somatic healing, accessible community health services, and events, we work to re-indigenize health practices, restore community power, and ensure healthcare access for all.
VISION:
We envision a world where everyone has access to quality, culturally-respectful healthcare; where Indigenous midwives, healers, and community health workers are valued as essential providers; and where traditional birth and healing practices are returned to Indigenous communities as a living, thriving part of everyday life. By bridging ancestral wisdom with equitable health systems, we aim to build stronger, healthier communities for generations to come.
Gatherings & Community Support
With years of experience in event planning and facilitation, we bring people together for healing, learning, and relationship-building. From community gatherings and retreats to workshops and elder support, we create spaces where wisdom and connection thrive.
Advocacy & Impact
Driven by a commitment to health equity and justice, we work in offering direct health services and education, policy development, coalition building, and provide essential resources to ensure Indigenous voices are respected and empowered within healthcare systems and beyond.
Guidance & Sacred Transitions
Offering support through life’s sacred moments, we provide trauma-informed education, death companioning, somatic coaching, and resources for birth and beyond. Through midwifery and indigenous practices, we honor the dignity of each individual and the wisdom of our ancestors.

The Midwife’s Oracle &
Tarot Decks: Coming Dec 2025!
Created as sacred tools for healing, The Midwife’s Tarot and Midwife’s Oracle celebrate midwifery and traditional wisdom. The Tarot deck, painted by an Indigenous Peruvian artist, and the Oracle deck, featuring healers from diverse cultures, offer guidance and support to midwives and those they serve on their journeys. This offering is from our partner, Phoenix Midwife, with a percentage of the profits going to continue supporting the work of Indigenous Birth.
In collaboration with the Firelight Group, Indigenous Birth is mapping the Arizona-Mexico border region to track access to Indigenous midwives and document the evolving landscape of traditional midwifery in the Americas. This resource aims to re-indigenize midwifery, supporting Indigenous and tribal communities in reclaiming their birth practices.
Currently in development, our Resource Library will offer midwives access to affiliated organizations, articles, videos, and other media. Designed as a networking hub, this resource will support midwives in finding events, tools, and community connections essential to their practice.
