Autumn Cavender Wilson

CPM (Native American)

Wicanhpi Iyotan Win Autumn Cavender is a Wahpetunwan Dakota midwife, artist and writer residing on her home territory of Pezihutazizi K'api in occupied Minisota Makoce. She came to her artistic practice through midwifery, and she came to midwifery through her activism in decolonization and indigenous language revitalization. These political roots continue to inform both her midwifery practice and work more broadly, seeing midwifery as a catalyst for decolonization, and art as a vehicle to carry those stories forward.

Cavender spends her free time creating and playing with her partner, two sons, and a 65-pound German Shepherd who thinks she's a lap dog.
