Suzanne Wertman

Suzanne Wertman, State Government Affairs Consultant for the American College of Nurse-Midwives, discussed the impact of the new Title X funding and eligibility rules in the first of a two part podseries on Title X. Suzanne breaks down the impact on the lives of millions who may potentially no longer have access to vital healthcare services.

Suzanne Wertman has over twenty years’ experience providing midwifery care to people of all ages and backgrounds in public, private and non-profit settings.

Currently, Suzanne is the state government affairs consultant for the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Most recently, she spent over eight years working as the home clinician at Planned Parenthood in Wilmington, NC. She has taught nurse practitioner and nurse-midwife students as clinical faculty at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and East Carolina University. Suzanne has also worked as a nurse-midwife in the United States Virgin Islands and San Francisco, California.

Suzanne serves as the State Government Affairs Committee Chair for ACNM and the immediate past President of the NC affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (NCACNM). Under her leadership, the affiliate received the 2014 ACNM Exemplary Affiliate Award. The North Carolina Nurses Association named her the Legislative/Political Nurse of 2014, and she was a Fellow of the American Nurses Advocacy Institute in 2015.
